TOP PLASTIC SURGERY PREDICTIONS FOR 2012

Jan 24, 2012, 12:33 p.m.

In spite of the current economy, signs show that plastic surgery procedures will have increased in 2011, partly due to competition in the job market. According to Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Babak Azizzadeh, who has seen an increase in plastic surgery requests at his practice this year, there has been particular growth of non-invasive procedures.

As Director of the Center for Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, Medical Director of La Peer Surgical Group and Chairman of his Advances in Multi-Specialty Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Symposium held annually at Cedar Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Azizzadeh predicts the following procedures will take center stage in 2012.

  1. Voluma, the newest hyaluronic acid volumizer delivers a smoother youthful appearance to the cheeks, cheekbones, and chins, will top Restylane, Juvederm and other fillers currently on the market, once it receives FDA Approval in 2012.
  2. No needle lip augmentation and eye rejuvenator. The Blunt Tip Cannula, a very fine tube that is more flexible than a needle, and delivers a more precise incision for fillers, will take center page asit requires less injections and less downtime and bruising.
  3. Using a mix of various toxins for wrinkle reduction in different facial areas rather than just one. For instance, Botox for the lower face, Dysport for the forehead, and Xeomin to target crows feet and wrinkles.
  4. Sculpthera, a combination collagen stimulator and tightening device used to correct deep facial wrinkles and folds by replacing lost collagen.
  5. Minimally invasive facelifts will gain more response with the improving economy.
  6. Less lower blepharoplasty with improved non-surgical outcomes due to the combination of fillers, lasers, and tightening techniques.
  7. Less browlifts with improved non-surgical outcomes also due to fillers, toxins, and ulthera tightening combinations.
  8. Temple rejuvenation will be more widely incorporated to improve a youthful facial shape with Sculptra.
  9. More use of filler injections for the upper eyelids.
  10. A known fact, unfortunately people will continue to age.
